LONDONDERRY, N.H. – The 368th Engineer Battalion conducted a change of command ceremony at the Londonderry Armed Forces Reserve Center, in Londonderry, New Hampshire, July 15, 2023.
Soldiers, leaders, families, and friends of the battalion welcomed Lt. Col Trevor R. Hopper as the new commander, while also bidding farewell to Lt. Col. Noel Milian, the outgoing commander during the ceremony.
The ceremony was presided over by the Brigade commander, Col. Anthony C. Mancari, and the battalion command sergeant major, Command Sergeant Major Richard E. Lukashewski.
Hopper discussed his command philosophy and looks forward to getting back to his engineering roots.
“From the Secretary of the Army on down, it’s people first,” said Hopper. “Maintaining our people and our equipment are priorities for mission readiness.”
Hopper comes from the 673rd Engineer Detachment from Ft. Meade, Maryland, where he got that unit ready for their current deployment.
“I trained them up and then I took command here, so it was sort of bittersweet,” he said. “But I got one of my top choices for command, and it fits with my construction background so I’m really excited.”
Hopper also said that he’s going to use the training he got from the 673rd to shape how he trains the 368th.
“I want to build a positive environment for my soldiers,” he said. “But I also want to build an environment where we provide impactful, tough, realistic training to maintain our edge. I want to provide the best training on the best equipment so we can always be ready for anything, whether it’s battle assembly, extended combat training, or mobilization.”
