NORFOLK, Va. – The WAVY News 10 team made an appearance aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD-5) Jan. 13, 2023 to showcase the crew as part of the station’s December iteration of WAVY’s Navy Ship Salute.
The monthly live-broadcast highlights a different ship in the Norfolk Area each episode by having WAVY News 10 Correspondent Bret Hall participate in daily shipboard activities.
An official partnership between the U.S. Navy and the news team, WAVY’s Navy Ship Salute is a monthly feature dedicated to capturing what life is like aboard different U.S. Naval Ships and their operational assets, so the public can have a better understanding according to it’s website.
During their time onboard the USS Bataan (LHD-5), the WAVY News 10 staff members were given a tour of various spaces in the ship including the number two boiler room, the flight deck triage, the mess decks, and the hangar bay.
