Unmanned Systems Payloads Workshop brings Collaboration Efforts.

“The plan is to use this for an operational feel to see what the Army is looking for when it comes to payloads. Said Julia McAdams, Director of Solution Innovation at Army Applications Laboratory. “Soldiers have been super innovative in trying to figure out how to solve the problems they face in their situations that they have presented.”

Soldiers and DoD civilians are expected to cross between boundaries of their areas of expertise to further the Army’s ever expanding knowledge of unmanned payload systems in this workshop. The first day of the workshop brought together soldiers and DoD civilians alike with riveting roadmaps, briefings and question and answer sections to some of the Army’s most recent problems relating to unmanned systems.

“The Army is ever evolving just like this program. It’s a great way to figure out what does and doesn’t work and concentrate the efforts to solve those issues." said Colonel David Melendez, Commander of the 254th Regiment Headquarters, New Jersey National Guard.

The second day of the workshop continued from the first day to include small breakout sessions to help facilitate solutions from the day before, gap problem framing and solicitation development.

Daniel Hilty, A Program Manager with Army Applications Lab said “It’s where we’re at now and where we want to get to, we don’t expect these problems to be solved with just this workshop but with workshops like these, we can move forward in the process to finding the solution the Army needs.”
