    10th Special Forces Group (Airborne)

FAIRBANKS, AK – 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) Green Berets along with Canadian and Italian partner forces participated in the Joint Pacific Readiness Center (JPMRC) training rotation in Alaska from March 21-31, 2023.
The rotation serves as a reference point for Green Berets and their international partners to properly evaluate their capacity to thrive in a range of situations while assessing adversities presented during their mission.
Commanders take advantage of the JPMRC settings to train their troops in the distinctive terrain and circumstances that will most likely be encountered during operations or deployments within their own areas of operation. This training event uses unique joint training conditions to provide soldiers and allies with global training opportunities in authentic settings. These settings help the units’ ability to operate, perform, engage, and defeat enemy troops in arctic conditions while also strengthening their deployment capabilities.
This year’s training covered a variety of unconventional warfare operations in arctic temperatures like coordination with partner forces, enemy territory infiltration operations, and airborne operations.

“In cold weather environments such as the one here, we prepare our team to stay flexible, adaptable, effective, and ready to execute the mission,” said a team sergeant with 10th SFG(A). “It is essential for us to be able to perform under high-stress environments where adversities can be present at any time.”
During this training rotation, international cooperation helped improve the 10th SFG(A)’s effectiveness in irregular warfare procedures. This cooperation not only improves the readiness of all parties engaged, but it also helps to fortify ties between the U.S. military and its allies around the world.
During one of the final operations of this training rotation, Green Berets and Canadian partners performed freefall operations at an altitude of 8500 feet inside the Arctic Circle.
“Working with U.S. Special Forces is a great way for the team to learn, improve and become more efficient in different tactical aspects,” shared a Canadian soldier after the jump.
Both Green Berets and Canadian soldiers wore the “1st Special Service Force” shoulder patch, dating back to the heritage when the United States and Canada formed this Elite Commando Unit in World War II. The intent was to showcase the respect, partnership, and collaboration between both nations.
“I believe that finishing our training with this freefall operation along with the Canadian team is a great way to culminate this training rotation,” said another team sergeant with 10th SFG(A). “We wanted to add something special to this jump, hence the reason why we wore the 1st Special Service Force patch, it represents the long partnership we have with them.”
