With 10 days left before Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) transitions to MHS GENESIS, the Department of Defense’s (DOD) new electronic health record (EHR) system, providers and staff are participating in a series of MHS GENESIS Pre-Go-Live events.
The Pre-Go-Live events involve trainers working with clinicians and providers, also called End Users, walking them through ensuring they have credentials set to their assigned roles, learning the new system, and answering any staff questions.
The list of events includes the Sign-On Fair, Favorites Fair, Learning Labs, and a Mock Go-Live.
Mock Go-Live took place Feb. 27, allowing End Users to practice end-to-end workflows and clinical work activities in a mock MHS GENESIS environment before Go-Live.
Wrapping up the series of pre-Go-Live events is the Non-Providers Fair, a three-day event for all non-licensed providers. Like the Favorites Fair, trainers will guide End Users in setting up their credentials and workflows and participate in a production environment with a clinical and workflow expert.
“The purpose of the Pre-Go-Live events is to ensure every staff member who should have access to the new system has the access they need,” shared U.S. Army Maj. Kirt Cline, WRNMMC’s MHS GENESIS Site POC. “It also allows our End Users to practice end-to-end workflows in a mock MHS GENESIS environment.”
During Learning Labs and Mock Go-Live events, End Users can interact with the EHR system according to their assigned roles and practice end-to-end workflows and clinical work activities.
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center will transition to MHS GENESIS on March 25, replacing the TRICARE Online Patient Portal.
MHS GENESIS is the DOD’s new EHR for the Military Health System. Once deployed at all military hospitals worldwide, beneficiaries will have 24/7 online access to their health records from any military hospital or clinic from anywhere.
