KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – Media members are invited to observe a community project at Sankt Goar on Thursday, February 23, 2023. U.S. Army Soldiers, civilians, Bundeswehr Soldiers, and host nation volunteers will restore cement stairways and remove overgrown vegetation in the area from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 - 3:45 p.m. Mr. Falko Hoenisch, the mayor of Sankt Goar, will also be attendance.
In July 2022, 21st TSC held the first community project in Sankt Goar. The event was well attended and volunteers successfully cleaned debris from streams before heavy rains. Sankt Goar is a significant World War II site where U.S. Army and Allied troops crossed the Rhine River. The town, Sankt Goarshausen, is located directly across the Rhine River from Sankt Goar and was victoriously seized in March 1945.
