NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — The National Guard Marksmanship Training Center (NGMTC) will conduct the Winston P. Wilson (WPW) and Armed Forces Skill at Arms Meeting (AFSAM) Sniper Championships December 2-9, 2022 at Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center, Ark.

The competition is sponsored by the NGMTC, as well as, hosted by the NGMTC and 233rd Regional Training Institute Sniper Instructors.

The WPW sniper competition is free and open to all National Guard Army and Air Force.

The AFSAM is open to all NATO-aligned countries militaries and U.S. military service branches.

This competition is designed as a training tool for US and Allied armed forces, immersing them into situations they could encounter in the real world. Attendees learn how to maneuver and shoot in a carefully orchestrated chaos that mimics a battle-like environment. This allows participating teams to hone their current skills and develop new skills in the process.

Ammunition is provided for National Guard participants, however, AFSAM participants must bring their own ammunition and firearms with them. Bringing assigned unit firearms and optics is preferred, although AFSAM Teams may be furnished with firearms on a case-by-case basis and must be pre-approved by NGMTC.

Additionally, U.S. military service members can earn Excellence in Competition (EIC) Marksmanship Badges and credit points toward their Distinguished Rifle and Pistol designations in the EIC Matches during the event. The prestigious EIC Badge takes precedence over standard qualification badges.
