VICENZA, Italy -- Six explosive ordnance disposal and counter-IED (C-IED) experts from Tunisia Armed Forces visited Fort Lee, Virginia, and the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command's Munitions and EOD Training Department Oct. 25-26.
Organized by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa's C-IED Branch, the Tunisians observed and discussed how the U.S. Army trains EOD and C-IED Soldiers.
According to Dana Bogard, SETAF-AF C-IED Branch Chief, the visit illustrated the importance of developing institutional processes and organizational structure.
"The Tunisians are modeling our framework for developing critical doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, facility and policy components,” Bogard said.
Bogard and the rest of the C-IED Branch work with Tunisia and other Africa military partners to build capacity and capabilities.
