Jesus Barbero Marchena is the financial manager assigned to the Comptroller Department at Naval Station (NAVSTA) Rota.
He provides oversight for the Comptroller Department including U.S. and local national payroll, travel, government purchase cards, and billeting office.
“Right now I'm also the acting Comptroller for Rota, Romania, Poland and NSEs (National Support Elements; located in Madrid, Valencia and Lisbon),” he said.
Barbero Marchena, from Rota, Spain, began working on the installation over 35 years ago. Prior to working at the Comptroller Department, he was the budget financial supervisor for the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) department.
“I like working with numbers,” he said. “What I l like the most is to prepare financial reports.”
In his free time, Barbero Marchena enjoys walking, reading, and taking care of his garden.
“The best thing (about working on base) is that you have to work with people from different countries and cultures.”
