NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk’s Contracting Department obligated $2,539,198,171 in fiscal year 2022.
According to Contracting Department Director Capt. Todd Wanack, his team of more than 250 contracting experts awarded nearly 8,100 contract actions during the fiscal year. Wanack, who has extensive experience in contracting with other Department of Defense entities says working with this group has been the high point of his career.
“They are a team that seems to be able to do it all and they do for almost everyone in the Navy,” he added. “While it is not easy and requires great skill and attention to detail, they make it look easy.”
He added that the team also provides unsurpassed customer service, due to what he described as a truly remarkable degree of professionalism every day.
“During FY-22 we received 944 surveys and we had a 99 percent mission satisfaction rate,” said Wanack.
The team supported a total of 484 mission partners this year, with highlights including supporting Fleet Weeks in New York and Baltimore and the commissioning of USS Delaware (SSN 791), an event attended by the president and first lady.
Wanack summed up saying “We are very fortunate, since so much of our work directly and indirectly impacts the Sailors on the waterfront. Anytime we can positively affect those men and women it becomes the highlight of our day.”
