AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy--Staff Sgt. Steven Scrimo, 31 Security Forces Squadron, NCOIC of vehicles from Canton, Ohio, has been at the 31st Fighter Wing for 3 years.
Recently he found an innovative way to save manpower, money and resources.
Scrimo found that by using folding electric scooters as a transportation method during certain processes, such as during vehicle pick and drop off at vehicle maintenance. His team was able to reduce manning requirement by 50% by returning to the SFS warehouse located on the other side of base on the electric scooters instead of by another vehicle. This new process saved 2,570 in fuel costs annually and saved 372 hours.
