JUNCTION CITY, Kan. — U.S. Army Col. Bryan M. Harris, the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, commander spoke during an interview on KJCK Radio in Junction City, on September 23, 2022.
The interview was conducted by Dewey Terrill, News Director/News Anchor at KJCK. Harris began the interview with an introduction about himself.
The commander of 2nd ABCT said he has been in the Army for about 24 years, is married with six-year-old twins, and this is his second rotation to Fort Riley since 2016.
Harris also spoke about his family’s military history, noting that his grandfather fought in World War II and his father fought in the Vietnam War.
Harris graduated from West Point in 1998 as an armorer officer and wished to continue his family's legacy in the United States military.
“The Army's a great team to be on,” said Harris.
One of the topics discussed was the brigade’s recent rotation to the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, Ca. and how the experience was for both Harris himself and the brigade.
“The Soldiers got better every day,” said Harris. “I’m tremendously proud of the team and what we accomplished at NTC.”
After speaking about the brigade's successful NTC rotation, the conversation transitioned to their upcoming deployment to Europe, how 2nd ABCT has been preparing for it, and what programs have been put in place for the families and Soldiers remaining home.
“October 13th we’re holding an information and resource fair for families and Soldiers,” said Harris. “So, they understand what’s available, not just on Fort Riley, but across Junction City and the Flint Hills area.”
Harris concluded his interview expressing gratitude to the local community.
“My team and I appreciate the support from the Flint Hills community, Junction City, and the rest of the division,” said Harris. “We look forward to our upcoming deployment, Ready Now.”
