Tech Sgt. Kyle Bellone, 688th Cyberspace Wing Command Chief Executive was recently selected to attend Officer Training School at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif. to become a Missileer Officer.

Nuclear and Missile Operations Officers run and manage the United States unparalleled nuclear and missile capabilities by assessing the effectiveness of missile operations systems, incorporating new technology and developing future plans for systems, facilities and personnel.

Bellone’s previous units include the 690th Cyberspace Control Squadron as a crew commander for the AMAC and the the 693rd Intelligence Support Squadron at Ramstein Air Force Base where he served as a cybersecurity supervisor.

Bellone enlisted 8 years ago as a 1D7 Systems operator and says that while he will be changing career fields, he will look for ways to lend his cyber expertise to nuclear and missile operations.

“I will seek out ways to revamp and refine cybersecurity on the missile silos,” said the Louisville, Kentucky native.

“I don’t want to lose my cyber knowledge and I want to continue to develop it alongside my new position and add value throughout the rest of my career.”

“When I found out I was selected, I was ecstatic,” said Bellone. “It was awesome, Col. [James] Hewitt (688th Cyberspace Wing Commander) informed me in the front office, I received an early notification.”

Bellone is the first person is his family to serve in the military.

“I always had an interest, in fact as a kid I wanted to be a fighter pilot and in high school I pursued my private pilot license.”

Bellone went on to receive his Bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky with a dual major in psychology and sociology.

    He enlisted shortly after graduating.

Bellone’s proven track record of character and drive have made him a candidate for opportunities and challenging tasks from senior leaders.

He was recently tapped to fill the role of 16th Air Force deputy junior executive officer and has since returned to a vital position on the 688th Cyberspace Wing Command Action Group.

“I like seeing tasks come to fruition, achieving goals keeps me motivated,” said Bellone.

“It is like acquiring a check mark--I'm always dedicated to the task no matter how big or small. It is important for me to try my hardest to make it successful.”

Bellone said he had never been at the Wing level before and was overwhelmed to see all of the responsibilities that units have.

“I want to use the knowledge that I have gained at the Wing level to do my part to make the Air Force better.”

He credited Col. Jeffrey Blankenship, Col. James Hewitt with pushing him down this path. He also thanked Senior Master Sgt. Brianna Oberg for pushing him into the position of chief executive and out of his comfort zone.

“I would never be where I am if it wasn’t for my leadership both past and present, I am forever grateful for this opportunity,” said Bellone.

“My advice is to be confident enough to step out of your comfort zone, if you do, good things will happen for you.”

Bellone says he plans to continue reaching for success after OTS. He wants to pursue his Masters in Cybersecurity and one day be a Squadron commander.
