Essex Junction, VT – Maj. Gen. Greg Knight, the Adjutant General for the Vermont National Guard, signed an agreement to enter the Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) program with GlobalFoundries.

Lindsay Kurrle, Secretary for the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development, and Ken McAvey, General Manager for Fab 9 at GlobalFoundries in Essex, joined Maj. Gen. Knight in the ceremonial signing.

“This is a collaborative effort between the Guard, the state, and local employers to develop our workforce,” said Knight. “We all have a similar goal in hiring new people and getting young people into Vermont. Pairing with the largest private employer in Vermont is a huge step in our continued development of this program.”

The PaYS program started with the active duty Army and is now being used by some states in the National Guard. It is a strategic partnership between the U.S. Army and a cross section of corporations, companies, and public sector agencies. The Program provides America's Soldiers with an opportunity to serve their country while they prepare for their future. PaYS Partners guarantee Soldiers an interview and possible employment after the Army. This unique Program is part of the Army's effort to partner with America's business community and reconnect America with its Army.

“We are honored to have General Knight and the service men and women who have joined us here today. We thank you for your service to our nation,” said McAvey. “We are hiring, and we’d love to have members of the military come join our team at GlobalFoundries.”

GlobalFoundries joins other recent PaYS additions in Barry Callibeaut and South Burlington Police Department as local organizations participating in the program.

“Bringing new people here and keeping current Vermonters is critical to our success,” said Kurrle. “Having young families feeds our school systems, our businesses, and Vermont as a whole. This program will help to continue working toward that goal”
