FORT MCCOY WI - U.S. Army Reserve Public Affairs Soldiers from the 354th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment , Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, reported to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, to provide critical mission support to commanders in simulated media engagements as units trained in a variety of events taking place during this year’s annual training exercise.
As multiple units from across the country demonstrate their skills and competence in support of the Army’s Readiness and Modernization efforts, Army public affairs tells the story through the reporting of facts and the strict use of approved publications and style guides.
U.S. Army Reserve members, Capt. Maria Salcido and Sgt.1st Class Dalton Smith of the 354th MPAD conducted subject matter expert preparations with Col. William Murrell, Executive Officer, 411th Hospital Center, Jacksonville, Florida, which involves a different set of tasks and requirements per the Army public affairs program.
Public affairs units conduct SME preparations to better assist Commanding Officers while interacting with media during training events and real-world scenarios. A crucial task of public affairs officers is to ensure proper operational security measures are upheld during media engagements while keeping the welfare and safety of troops in mind.
