Story by Gunnery Sgt. Evan Barragan

    Marine Corps Information Operations Center

Command of Marine Corps Information Operations Center (MCIOC) transferred from Col. Todd M. Manyx, to Col. Rory D. Kent Aug. 2, 2022 at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. After leading MCIOC since August 2020, Manyx will be assigned to the Deputy Commandant for Information, Information Maneuver Division. The ceremony was presided over by Lt. Gen. Matthew G. Glavy, Deputy Commandant for Information, Headquarters Marine Corps.

“The most operationally relevant event for DC I will be the establishment of the Marine Corps Information Command (MCIC) with the MCIOC as its centerpiece," stated Glavy. "This is a testament to Col Manyx's leadership making such a transition possible and Col Kent chosen to lead the organization in this new role, delivering outcomes for the service and the joint force.”

Reflecting on his time as Commanding Officer, Manyx shared: “The MCIOC family is absolutely superb. The Marines and Civilians are a seamlessly integrated team totally focused on developing and advancing all aspects of Influence in support of the Information warfighting function. It has been my greatest honor to lead them and I look forward to watching how they will continue to drive change in this dynamic field.”

Manyx led the MCIOC in the transition from tactical to operational level Operations in the Information Environment as the Marine Expeditionary Forces Information Groups achieved their Initial Operating Capability.

Col. Kent assumes command of MCIOC after serving as a Branch Head in DC PP&O/PL.
“I am truly honored to have been selected to be the Commanding Officer of MCIOC and I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and getting to work.” said Kent.

The MCIOC was established in 2009 and provides global IE battlespace awareness to operating forces, supports the planning and conduct of influence and deception operations, and enables the institutionalization of information as a warfighting function in order to effectively integrate operations in the information environment (OIE) into service--level education, plans, operations, exercises and experimentation.
