Since 2018, the Civil Engineer (CE) Playbooks Support Team’s mission has been to foster and build a community of knowledge by offering universally-accessible playbooks for the enterprise. Four years later, the CE Playbooks community continues to grow in membership and shares digital innovation and knowledge through over 60 playbooks currently hosted on the site. Offering a vast array of applications, each playbook delivers a centralized means to complement existing Air Force policy and support service to our Airmen Engineers. While the pilot initiative was to design a website where playbooks are more mobile, accessible, consistent, and easy-to-update, it has evolved to influence how Airmen today access playbook material. The current website has an easy-to-navigate, modernized user interface with functionalities that keeps users at the forefront; members have a personalized dashboard to rate, save playbooks as favorites, and can access information in 3 clicks or less on any device without a CAC. With its success and growing influence, CE Playbooks was met with the question: “What is the next stage of playbook evolution?” This question served as foundational next steps toward digitally innovating the tool even further and gave rise to a new initiative: CE Playbooks version 3.0.

CE Playbooks version 3.0 introduces a scalable, user experience with significant performance enhancements including immersive simulations, fillable forms, and new brand identity. The revitalized website emphasizes Playbook Owners and Action Officer input towards content curation. Data analytics, such as the highest rated playbooks, most liked or disliked, most viewed, and most favorited, can be reviewed by owners to make informed decisions on the contents’ relevance in the career fields. In addition to the new site functionalities and improvements, users can expect a continuous rollout of immersive learning, knowledge checks, and fillable forms for specific playbooks. Users can also develop their knowledge by inspecting an unattended dorm room using the immersive simulation in Chapter 4.1, Inspections, of the Facilities Management Playbook. In the future, the team plans to introduce upgrades to the Facilities Management simulation and create an immersive experience for the Materiel Control Playbook, focusing on Acquisition and Operating Stock. As the CE Playbooks website and community continues to evolve, all major enhancements will now fall under its new brand with a revamped logo and increasing social media presence.
