AL BAKIR AIRFIELD, Iraq — 1st Lt. Gregory Prislipsky, of Holland, Mich., is newly promoted and taking on great responsibility, Dec. 7.
Prislipsky, a platoon leader in B Company, 37th Engineer Battalion-Joint Task Force Eagle based out of Fort Bragg, N.C., is currently serving a 12 month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Upon arriving in Iraq his platoon has conducted route clearance missions, clearing roads of improvised explosive devices (IED's). Currently, however, he is putting his Civil Engineering Degree to good use by performing quality assurance and quality control checks for civil reconstruction projects that help bring essential services for the Iraqi people.
Prislipsky is "a flexible and capable leader able to change from combat missions to performing quality control and assurance of construction projects" said Lt. Col. Paul Huszar, commander of the 37th Eng. Bn. - JTF Eagle, and will continue his service to the United States, Iraq, until he returns home this summer.
