The 446th Civil Engineer Squadron welcomed new commander, Lt. Col. Patricia Hartman, in an assumption of command ceremony July 23, 2022, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
“How much I can make a difference in the lives of the Airmen while I’m leading and finding ways to solve problems, making everyone’s lives simpler, that’s what is important,” said Hartman.
Hartman says that her top priority in her new position is to focus on the Airmen and their families within the squadron and prepare them for deployment.
Her goals are to cultivate the strong foundation already in place, in order to foster an environment of creativity and self-improvement.
“My goal is to maintain the success that Lt. Col. Hubbard has developed through her time as commander, and continue on that path,” said Hartman. “She established a phenomenal squadron where Airmen can perform with excellence, which in turn opens up opportunities for creative thinking and exploration of future innovations for continuous improvement.”
For Hartman, for an organization to function well it takes many people working together to accomplish the goal.
“Relying on fellow commanders as mentors, and wing staff for advice and guidance on how to effectively navigate the labyrinth of command is how it all comes together,” said Hartman. “It truly takes a village to perform as a commander, and our success is based upon the knowledge of fellow commanders, chiefs and command staff to inspire us to be better leaders and guide our actions.”
446 CES is a Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force made up of four flights: commander support staff, fire protection, emergency management and readiness, and operations comprising of water and fuel systems managements, electricians and power productions, heavy pavement, structures, heating ventilation and air conditioning, and the operations managers.
