KEYPORT, Wash., 30 June, 2022/Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Keyport/- Sarah Yaeggy, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Keyport’s newest graduate of the Naval Acquisition Development Program is supporting important projects for the Navy.

Yaeggy, a University Place, Washington native, graduated from the University of Washington in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Business Management with a minor in Teaching, Learning and Justice.

Expecting to become an elementary school teacher, her career took an unexpected turn.

“I was on track to be an elementary school teacher, but I met Tricia (my branch head) at our campus career fair. Later that week I received an email asking to come in for an interview and the rest is history,” said Yaeggy.

The NADP internship gives next generation logisticians the necessary experience to be successful in government service. To qualify, candidates must have:

    - a bachelor’s degree
    - minimum 2.95 grade point average
    - meet Office of Personnel Management qualification requirements.

Other career fields within the program include business, contracting, engineering and information technology. The NADP internship can take up to three years to complete.

During the three-year program, she has worked on many different projects onboard NUWC Keyport including the Independent Logistics Assessment Kickoff, Supply Support and Product Support Readiness and the Life Cycle Sustainment Plan for COLUMBIA.

“Although my experience has been quite different from the rest due to COVID, I have learned more in these past three years than I ever thought possible,” said Yaeggy. “Being a part of the cutting-edge innovation within the COLUMBIA Class Logistics Team has been a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am forever grateful that the NADP program allowed me to be a small part in the foundation of COLUMBIA as a whole.”

NUWC Keyport leaders praised Yaeggy’s abilities.

“To help ensure the COLUMBIA Class is on time and ready for training, maintenance and sea, we can’t simply rely on established sustainment processes; we must develop new ones,” said Thomas Applewhite, NUWC Keyport Logistics Management Specialist. “Often I would give Sarah a call, explain to her what we needed to develop, and trusted her to get the process started and review her work by the agreed upon time”

“Sarah is a delight to work with, and more than capable of independent telework,” he said. “I look forward to watching her professional development in the years to come and perhaps working for her someday.”
Upon graduation, Yaeggy will become a permanent Logistics Management Specialist.

Her next assignment will be to take over the COLUMBIA Product Support Readiness for her division and lead and manage shipbuilding and conversion, Navy Outfitting in support of procurement funding.
