Mission Support Element "White Cell" benefits Combined Resolve 17

HOHENFELS, Germany – You might be wondering how a large multinational, multi-mission exercise such as Combine Resolve 17 can run at a high efficiency level without a hitch, right?
You rely on the “White Cell.”
Army Mission Support Elements (MSE), also known as White Cell, provide a stable foundation and valued resource that commanders and Soldiers can utilize in times of need. The MSE is tasked with performing the division's day-to-day administrative and personnel tasks, freeing the brigade staff to train during deployment.
Army Sgt. 1st Class LaToya Gregory, mission support element non-commissioned officer in charge at Hohenfels, Germany, spearheads this effort by making sure every Soldier’s needs are met, whether it be emergency leave, Red Cross messages or any medical emergencies. She also handles housing and supplies for both U.S. and Allied and partner nation warriors.
Gregory is currently working White Cell for Combined Resolve 17, a multinational Army exercise in Germany involving more than 5,600 troops from 12 countries.
“Prior to Combined Resolve we made sure that all the accounts were setup, living arrangements were situated, and motor pools were taken care of,” said Gregory. “We work for all the Soldiers and multinationals to turn their gear in and we are also on call should anyone need assistance.”
White Cell is a vital component of a training exercise, without the efforts of the MSE a command’s standard operational procedures would be difficult to adhere to which could endanger the completion of the mission.
“Without us this whole thing would not operate properly, we take care of all of the nations while they are here and make sure they have what they need,” said Gregory. “We are the behind-the-scenes people that nobody notices until something goes wrong and we step in to assist the need.”
In order to achieve operational success, Gregory said you must have a highly motivated and capable support system. White Cell provides that capability and skillset so that Soldiers are positioned for success on the battlefield.
