Story by Petty Officer 1st Class Nicolas Lopez

    Navy Talent Acquisition Group Nashville

Everyone, this is Engineman 2nd Class (EXW/SW) Alex Lambert, a native of Morristown, Tenn.

EN2 Lambert enlisted in the Navy in 2015 to see the world and was looking for a greater opportunity.

Prior to being a recruiter in NTAG Nashville's Volunteer's Division Navy Recruiting Station Maryville, he came from Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron (MESF) 2, stationed out of Little Creek, Va.

When up for orders, Lambert decided to become a recruiter because he wanted to give back to the community that he came from. He wanted to show the community that there are more opportunities out there and that the Navy can be an excellent opportunity if needed. Lambert has now been a recruiter for 13 months and loves that he can connect with today's young men and women and help guide today's youth find purpose in life and watching them become great leaders and grow as Sailors. Lambert would be the first person to mention that not all jobs are smooth sailing, but definitely come with challenges as well. As we all know when, when Lambert checked into NTAG Nashville, it was at the tail-end of COVID-19. During that time, schools were open to staff and students, so as a new recruiter making relationships with teachers and educational staff was challenging.

After completing his recruiting tour at NTAG Nashville, Lambert plans on continuing to serve in the Navy Reserves and becoming a business owner with the help of the Navy and programs from the federal government.

When asked if there was anything else to add he said this, "Growing up in a small town I always knew I had a calling for bigger and greater things. When I joined in 2015 I was working at Subway and was looking for that ticket out of town. Most of my friends were working at jobs that I didn't feel was exactly going to be my path in life. I was looking to go to school to become a diesel mechanic, but didn't have 15,000 dollars to get myself there. I finally made the decision to sit down and listen to what my recruiter had to offer with the Navy and I have not looked back since. The Navy has taken me to places and countries that I never thought a guy like me, from East Tennessee, would ever get to see. The life that the Navy has provided for me is something that I will always carry. "
