For our Fallen Warrior commemoration this week, we remember U.S. Army 1st Lt. Robert Seidel III, 10th Mountain Division Army Ranger, from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Seidel enjoyed participating in local civil war reenactments as a child. He was known to be athletic, having played football throughout high school and wrestling on the intramural team when he attended West Point Military Academy. His family said that he believed in the Army’s mission in Iraq and taking care of his platoon was always his top priority.

Seidel died from injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated during combat operations in Iraq.

Editor's note: The Fallen Warrior series highlights Fallen Warriors who exemplify our core values and paid the ultimate sacrifice. Take a moment to honor this week’s hero.
