AFGHANISTAN - Thirty-four elders from Korengal Valley met with the local Afghan national army battalion commander and Task Force Lethal commander at a shura held at the Korengal Outpost, Nov. 12.

The topic of discussion was the future of the valley. U.S. Army Lt. Col. Brian Pearl and Afghan commander reminded the Afghans for there to be progress in the valley there needs to be a partnership between the locals and coalition forces.

The elders of the valley were able to voice their concerns with regard to the fighting throughout the valley.

The ANA commander left the elders with a final thought, "all of the elders of the valley are stronger than the few fighters that exist. The elders need to come together and decide the future of the Korengal Valley."
