    51st Fighter Wing

OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- Mandatory mask-wear is still required for individuals in certain high-risk settings, including healthcare and long-term care facilities, but also at Air Mobility Command passenger terminals. All 731st AMS passenger services supervisors at Osan Air Base must ensure compliance of all applicable traveler safety guidelines at all times, especially during high peak PCS seasons.

Per AMC guidance, “All individuals, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask on DoD transportation assets (e.g., planes, water transport, buses, trains, taxis, and ride-shares) traveling into, within or out of the United States, and indoor DoD transportation hubs.”

The 731st AMS staff at the Osan Air Base passenger terminal works hard to ensure the safety and fluid movement of all traveling personnel in and outbound via weekly rotators. They are also responsible for tracking passenger manifests, handling baggage and executing security checks and safety briefings for passengers.

Approximately 34,000 passengers are processed in and out of the Korean peninsula annually with Osan Air Base being the primary hub. With this being a short-tour assignment for most service members; you can imagine the necessity to keep processes streamlined.

In addition to assisting the influx of mandatory movements during PCS season, which keep the mission going, space available travel has recently become an available option for travel again for service members and their families after a year and a half of being out of service due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
