    920th Rescue Wing

PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, Fla. --
For the 920th Rescue Wing to be mission ready, everyone involved must be equipped to achieve success and the combined effort with personnel from the 920th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and 720th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron support section’s ability to keep the right maintenance tools in the right hands keeps operations flowing smoothly.

The support section is a main supplier of tools and equipment with a team of mechanics whose primary job is to provide immediate support for HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter and C-130J Combat King II aircraft repair and maintenance so that the aircraft can be turned around for missions quickly and efficiently.

“Not only do we provide parts and tools for support, but we also assist in performing maintenance as well. We stay qualified on all the equipment so if our guys need a hand we can help turn the wrenches and get the job done,” said Staff Sgt. Carlos Ramirez-Miro, 920th AMXS support section crew chief.

The tool shop does all of the planning and organizing to supply all tool requirements for present and future repairs. Their daily tasks requires them to get necessary equipment for mission success including researching where to purchase, how to purchase, and getting tools delivered to the shop in a timely manner.

The tool shop is able to assist in supplying all other shops that work under the squadrons. They work side by side with those shops to ensure that every part of the wings mission is properly equipped, and successful.

“We support the entire maintenance group and we make sure everything we supply to the other shops are 100% ready all the time. If any of those tools breaks or needs to be replaced, we are responsible for doing that,” said Technical Sgt. Steve Darby, 920th AMXS support section crew chief.

The tool shop even creates and organizes programs that maximize squadron efficiency. These programs provide various assistance in many areas of the wing that extend past basic maintenance and repair jobs.

Their vehicle program ensures they provide not only parts for vehicles used by the squadrons but they also conduct vehicle license registrations and proper training for driving on the flight line. This program also keeps track of who maintained the vehicle and when they maintained it to preserve accountability.

The mechanics in the support section are in charge of planning and executing a budget to place orders for tools and projects that includes more than $12 million in equipment which is kept clean and functional for mission readiness.

“The Support Section here does so much to support flying operations. They always ensure we have the right tools and equipment so that all supported aircraft are able to fly every day. Without them it would hinder the wing’s mission,” said Chief Master Sgt. Dean Peterson, 920th Maintenance Squadron senior enlisted leader.
