CONTINGENCY OPERATING SITE MAREZ, Iraq — The Multi-National Force - Iraq command sergeant major came to Contingency Operating Site Marez to witness the 506th Quartermaster Company case their colors, Nov. 16.

Command Sgt. Maj. Lawrence K. Wilson, the Multi-National Force — Iraq senior non-commissioned officer, worked with the 506th Quartermaster Company's senior non-commissioned officer during a previous assignment and came to send off the unit with his blessings.

Capt. Dwight O. Smith and 1st Sgt. Joseph T. Walden led the 506th Quartermaster Company in the awards and casing of the colors ceremony at the Diamondback Theater here. Other distinguished guests included Lt. Col. Kenneth A. Nava and Command Sgt. Maj. Paul T. Martinez, the commander and senior noncommissioned officer of the 515th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion respectively.

During the ceremony, Nava recognized the 506th's hard work and dedication to the Soldiers, as well as their support of fellow service members.

Walden was honored to have his former brigade command sergeant major attend the ceremony.

"Having CSM Wilson attend the awards and casing ceremony for the mighty 506th was an honor. When a Soldier in his position can take time from his many tasks and duties to speak and provide guidance you never forget it," Walden said. "When I asked him to attend there wasn't even a hesitation. His actions showed my Soldiers that there will always be opportunities to mentor young Soldiers."
