New corona rules starting March 20

Starting on Sunday, March 20, new corona rules will apply in Wiesbaden. On the one hand, the new federal and state requirements apply, on the other hand, a municipal general decree expires as planned, which regulated the handling of cases of infection of children in day care centers and in child day care. There are also new rules for visitors of city administration locations.

The corona rules in Germany are expected to be put on a new legal basis on Sunday, March 20. Among other things, the Federal Government plans to change the Infection Protection Act. The amendment is intended to determine which regulations the German Federal States can take on an independent level after March 19 if the previous legal basis is no longer applicable. Hessen wants to extend the existing corona protection measures as part of a transitional regulation until Apr. 2, as far as the new Infection Protection Act allows. The state announced this in a press release on Tuesday, March 15. After Apr. 2, according to the current status, only so-called basic protection measures are possible in order to protect vulnerable groups in particular. Further measures will then only be possible in hotspots and after a decision by the State Parliament.

The following rules are to remain in place until Apr. 2: The access regulations (3G, 2G, 2G-Plus) remain in place. The mask requirement will remain in place – to the extent it has been so far. Distance and hygiene concepts remain in place. In schools, the previous test obligation and the mask regulations will remain in place for the time being. The legal basis in the Infection Protection Act for other previously existing protective measures will cease to apply on March 20. This means that the previous contact restrictions for unvaccinated people are no longer applicable. Capacity restrictions for events and discotheques will be lifted. Folk festivals and similar events no longer have to be approved by infection law. Contact data collection is no longer permitted.

Similar to the new federal and state requirements and in coordination with the Hessen Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration (HMSI), the municipal general decree regulating the handling of cases of infection of children in day care centers will cease to apply at the end of March 19. Among other things, it regulated the handling of positive children as well as entry restrictions in the institutions. In addition, starting on Sunday, March 20, the 3G regulation will no longer apply to visitors to the city administration offices, unless there is a legal obligation. Regardless of the legal regulation, all visitors must continue to wear an FFP2 mask in public areas and in traffic areas inside the premises and in administrative buildings.

The city also points out once again that citizens must hurry if they want to be vaccinated in Erbenheim, on Schelmengraben or in Biebrich. As announced, the vaccination stations there will be closed at the end of March. The vaccination stations in the Luisenforum and the DKD Helios Clinic are to remain open until Sep. 30. Further details on the vaccination stations, vaccinations and current information about Corona are also available at wiesbaden.de/coronavirus.
