Growing up in an Orthodox Jewish household in Pennsylvania, Staff Sgt. Rose Dror had a unique decision to make when she became an adult and began considering her future. She held dual citizenship with both the United States and Israel. And so she needed to make a choice between the two.
Israel requires all young adults to serve a period in the armed forces. Dror was interested in enlisted in the U.S. military. Exploring her options, she ultimately made the decision to become solely a U.S. citizen and serve in the U.S. Air Force. She enlisted eight years ago and served initially as a Security Forces defender before later cross-training as a personnel specialist.
At Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates, Dror serves as a force protection specialist, a part of the 380th Expeditionary Security Force Squadron. She said she’s enjoying the job because the FP team is made up of Airmen from multiple career specialties, all working together.
“It is a good opportunity to work with people from all over the Air Force and learn a bit about who they are and what they do,” she said.
