FORWARD OPERATING BASE FALCON, Iraq — The 271st Human Resources Company team at Forward Operating Base Falcon consists of four personnel from 5th Platoon of the 38th Human Resources Company, from Ansbach, Germany. The team was sent to accomplish the mission of inspecting unit mailrooms and overseeing Kellogg, Brown & Root contractors throughout FOB Falcon.

The technical inspection team keeps precise accountability of each incoming and outgoing unit, prepares incoming units on how to handle and manage mail, trains battalion mailroom clerks, and prepares outgoing units so that mail will reach them at their home station. Spc. William Daley, of Long Island, N.Y., is the alternate technical inspector for FOB Falcon. While conducting his duties on FOB Falcon, Daley has found that due to limited resources, he has had to adjust his schedule and work with all battalion mailrooms in keeping them in line with postal standards. He has maintained steady flexibility which has directly impacted the accomplishment of his mission.

The technical inspector team is complimented by the FOB Falcon Contracting Officer Representatives, headed up by noncommissioned officer in charge Sgt. Matthew Perrin, of Lexington, Ky., whose primary duties involve supervising and evaluating the civilian contractors who handle the mail. The COR team, rounded out by Spc. Jessica Bushell, of Lima, Ohio, gets hands-on when performing their duties, preventing non-mailables from going out and interacting with KBR civilians as well as units that come directly to the Army Post Office to pick up mail so that facilitation and logistics don't become a problem.

Despite the separation from their company and platoon, these Soldiers are managing their daily tasks and ensuring that FOB Falcon personnel are able to successfully receive and send packages and letters, boosting the morale of all deployed personnel in the area, and easing the transition of both incoming and redeploying units.
