Regimental Command Sergeant Major 15th Ordnance visit 3rd BSB, 1ABCT, 3ID

    FT. STEWART, GA, UNITED STATES

    11.02.2021

    Story by Capt. Patrick Connelly

1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division

The 3rd Brigade Support Battalion has been settling into a nice grove being back at Fort Stewart following a nine month rotation to Republic of Korea from September 2020 through July 2021. On October 25th, the Ready Battalion had an awesome opportunity to spend time with the 15th Ordnance Corps Regimental Command Sergeant Major, (RCSM) Jason Decker, during his visit to the Marne Division.

Decker began his visit with a tour of the Force Modernization Facility where he met with contractors from BAE Systems and discussed maintenance capabilities of new equipment that aligns with the Division’s Modernization Campaign and the operational impacts in support of future Ordnance professionals.

Decker continued his visit with a tour of the Georgia National Guard Regional Training Site-Maintenance (RTSM) where the cadre of the RTSM gave an overview of the capabilities provided by the Georgia National Guard. The Chief liaison, Chief Warrant Officer Anderson, guided Decker on a tour highlighting their contributions towards producing maintenance professionals utilizing the One Army School System.

The day concluded with Decker meeting with some of the 3rd Brigade Support Battalion Non-Commissioned Officers from the Ordnance Corps. Decker also recognized two of the Battalion’s outstanding Ordnance professionals, Staff Sgt. Matthew Camilleri and Staff Sgt. Tony Martin for their hard work and daily contributions towards the readiness of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team.
Camilleri currently serves as a Radio and Communication Security Repairer (94E) and Martin serves as a Tactical Power Generation Specialist (91D) in the Battalion’s Bravo Field Maintenance Company.

Martin and Staff Sgt. Cardoso, another outstanding NCO from Bravo Company, took the time to vocalize some mentorship Decker shared concerning the Army COOL program. This program assists with paying for credentials that can enhance skills and qualifications both during and after military service. Decker brought up that a big purpose of this program is to train technically advanced Soldiers in our ranks. It also allows Soldiers to be more prepared for getting a civilian job if they decide to leave the military. The 3rd Brigade Support Battalion is always ready to better ourselves both during duty and off duty!

A huge thank you goes out to the 15th Regimental Command Sergeant Major for taking the time to impart words of wisdom and express expert coaching to our Ordnance Corps Professionals.
