AVIANO AIR FORCE BASE, Italy. (September 22, 2021) -- Aviano Air Base participated in exercise Steadfast Nomad (STND) 2021. STND is a NATO level force-on-force exercise that included NATO military members from Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy and Greece.
STND is a NATO level force-on-force exercise that brought together tactical subject matter experts at all levels to help build a more lethal ground force to secure assets. During the exercise, the 31st Security Forces Squadron trained to tactically respond to threats on Aviano and practiced responding with more personnel, weapons, and armored HMMWVs.
STND 2021 was hosted by a U.S. main operating base for the first time.
