    U.S. Army Garrison Benelux

ZAVENTEM, Belgium – The Brussels Provost Marshal’s Office hosted a breakfast for U.S. Army and host nation law enforcement professionals Oct. 20 at the 3 Star Restaurant at U.S. Army Garrison Benelux – Brussels.

Joining the event were several military police Soldiers, other U.S. Army personnel and chiefs of police and other host nation law enforcement officials from as close as Zaventem and as far as the Zutendaal area, the location of one of the garrison’s Army prepositioned stock sites. Belgian government security personnel, highway patrol officers from Limburg, Belgium and police officers from Brussels Nord and Tervuren, Belgium took part in the breakfast.

“We do this mostly for esprit-de-corps, just to make sure that we as first responders are providing support to each other,” said Maj. Denard Honeysuckle, USAG Benelux – Brussels provost marshal, at the start of the breakfast. “And hopefully, if there is a crisis we are able to reach out to each other and just cooperate.”

Honeysuckle went on to laud the local national attendees for their role in keeping the USAG Benelux community safe.

“You all are our first responders,” he said. “Everyone that we care about – our kids, our Families – they live outside of our bases, and we cannot operate without cooperation and your support – everyone in this room.”

He also said that the military police are always looking for opportunities for joint training, for ride-alongs, and for support for local events. He said that the garrison first responders are also open to providing support for off-post events in kind.
