FORT HOOD, Texas — Soldiers, assigned to A Company, 27th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade, Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division "Long Knives" donated their Saturday and a military vehicle in support of Killeen's 'Scout-O-Rama' at the Killeen Special Events Center, Oct. 17.

The Soldiers, also known as "Regulators," provided a static military vehicle display and talked with participating boy scouts and their families about the vehicle's capabilities and uses, as well as allowed members to climb within the cab of the vehicle.

"Some of the scouts were asking us how many pounds per square inch each tire was supposed to be, and how much the vehicle could tow," said Sgt. Mitchell Ledet, a squad leader and truck commander within Company A. Ledet, from Baton Rouge, La., was impressed by the difficulty of the questions some of the boy scouts asked.

The display vehicle was a U.S. Army truck, more commonly referred to as a Bobtail, which is used to tow large trailers. The vehicle seats two people within the cab, which was used by many of the scouts as they pretended to be a driver or passenger.

Spc. Anthony Taylor, an A Company petroleum supply specialist, said the boy scouts seemed to enjoy the display so much, that even when the fire truck arrived, parents weren't able to redirect their attention.

"The scouts made participating in the display fun and entertaining," said Taylor, a native of Lusby, Md.

The community event was part of the Long Knife Brigade's initiative to reach out to the people of Killen and foster cohesive relationships between the Soldiers and civilians.

"This was a great event for the scouts and for our Soldiers," said Maj. Stephen Fabiano, executive officer for 27th BSB, 4th BCT, 1st Cav. Div. "The young scouts were intrigued by our vehicle and Soldiers, and our Soldiers had fun supporting this great event."
