The Air Force Reserve's 910th Airlift Wing welcomed Ohio's 6th District U.S. Representative Bill Johnson for a visit to Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, Aug. 12, 2021.

The congressman's office requested the visit so that Johnson could meet with Col. Jeff Van Dootingh, the new 910th and YARS installation commander, and get an up-close look at the latest additions to the installation's infrastructure as well as the 910th's mission and some of it's over $1 billion in federal assets.

Johnson started his time at the installation by meeting with Van Dootingh to discuss the wing's legislative priorities.

Following his meeting with the wing commander, the congressman visited the installation's aerial spray maintenance facility where he received an overview briefing of the wing's aerial spray capability—the only one like it in the Department of Defense—and an up-close look at the prototype for the next-generation Modular Aerial Spray System, dubbed MASS 2.0.

Van Dootingh said the wing welcomed this opportunity with the congressman.

"We were able to have an opportunity to show what the 910th's Reserve Citizen Airmen and the Air Force Reserve's best small host installation bring to the nation's defense," said Van Dootingh. "We were pleased Congressman Johnson took time from his busy schedule to visit us and meet with me to discuss ways we can build the military capability of YARS."
