U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Austin M. Wolfinger, a Navigations Aids Air Traffic Control (ATC) Maintenance Technician, was celebrated as the Service Person of the Quarter by the Havelock Chamber of Commerce, Military Affairs Committee (MAC) at the Hancock Lodge, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, July 27, 2021.
Wolfinger is from Wadsworth, Ohio, and had shown interest in leadership from a young age. Growing up he traveled on mission trips at home and aboard to help those in need. Not only was Wolfinger the senior captain of the soccer team in high school but he was also the chairperson for the Conference Council of Youth Ministries for the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. Wolfinger enlisted in the Marine Corps on January 28, 2019. Wolfinger serves as a coach to the Boys and Girls soccer team with more than 100 hours of service and is the director of coaches for the Havelock Youth Soccer Association. According to Warrant Officer Clint Striblin, the officer in charge at ATC, Wolfinger is an exemplary Marine who exhibits the highest levels of leadership, confidence, and selflessness amongst his subordinates.
The Havelock MAC maintains and enhances the relationship between the military and civilian communities so the contributions of service members are recognized within the Havelock community. The Service Person of the Quarter award is given to service members who exude an exemplary volunteer work ethic in the community both on and off installation.
