LAS VEGAS – Over 167 Soldiers assigned to the 645th Inland Cargo Transfer Company (ICTC), bid farewell to their families and loved ones as they prepare to deploy to Kuwait on June 26, following a ceremony at Stoney’s Rockin’ Country – Town Square.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, Brig. Gen. John M. Dreska, Commanding General of 311th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) and Command Sergeant Major, Ricky Simms, who both provided words of encouragement and guidance to the Soldiers.
Brig. Gen. Dreska offered several tips to include the importance of safety, remaining flexible, communicating with loved ones, and taking care of themselves and each other, as well as taking advantage of the COVID-19 vaccination. He stated, “only good things will come of it.”
Following Brig. Gen. Dreska’s remarks, Command Sgt. Maj. Simms expressed how “extremely proud” he is of the Soldiers of 645th ICTC and that “the whole team is available” for them during their deployment.
As the ceremony concluded, Capt. Pedro Magana, commander of the 645th ICTC, thanked the Soldiers for their personal sacrifice and their willingness to serve, as well as the families of the Soldiers for their support. He mentioned that the company is comprised of leaders from the police force, engineers, teachers, and front-line workers. He also expressed that he is looking forward to the relationships that he will be able to establish with his team and the development of leaders within the company. He ended his speech with a rally cry to the 645th ICTC, “HIGH ROLLERS,” to which the formation let out a thunderous response of “LET IT RIDE!!!”
The overall mission of the 645th ICTC is to provide cargo transfer operations at various hubs throughout the region, facilitating the movement of equipment at ports, terminals, and central receiving and shipping points.
The 645th ICTC is a transportation company under the command of the 314th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, which are both located in Sloan, Nev. The Soldiers of 645th ICTC will head to Fort McCoy, Wis. to prepare for mobilization and are expected to spend approximately nine months in Kuwait.
