Sustainers take Home the Week of the Eagle Basketball Championship

FORT CAMPBELL Ky – Screaming Eagles from the 101st Division Sustainment Brigade celebrate their victory against 1st Brigade Combat Team in the Week of the Eagle Basketball championship game.

The Week of the Eagle is an annual celebration held at Fort Campbell that highlights the historical accomplishments of the 101st Airborne and helps build unit cohesion, through unit activities, ceremonies, sporting events and competitions.

“There was a lot of preparation that went into picking the best players for the game,” said Spc. Jaquan Wooten, the captain of Sustainment’s basketball team. “We played several rounds of five on five to determine who was best fit to represent the sustainers and we’re really happy about how it all turned out, especially with all of the hard work we put into training and preparing for this, it feels great to win.”

The victor of the game was hotly contested for two periods, 1st Brigade put on an impressive fight for the winning title but ultimately fell short to Sustainment Brigade, with the grueling match ending 61 to 56.

Week of the Eagle brings Fort Campbell’s soldiers and families closer together and
    builds comradery within each unit.

“Week of the Eagles is a great way to come together and build relationships with other units because in the fight you always need to be able to have confidence in your team, we are all a team here at Fort Campbell,” Wooten said.
