DETROIT ARSENAL, Mich. – Maj. Gen. Darren Werner, commanding general of the Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, presented Marion Whicker, executive director of TACOM’s Integrated Logistics Support Center, the Armed Forces Civilian Services Medal during a town hall meeting June 8.
The award citation noted Whicker’s achievements and participation in Operation Warp Speed beginning May, 2020, when she was selected as the operation’s deputy chief for supply, productions and distribution.
Operation Warp Speed was a federal government directed effort that supported multiple efforts to produce a SARS-COV-2 vaccine in response to the world-wide pandemic declared by the United Nations’ World Health Organization in March, 2020.
The Armed Forces Civilian Service Medal recognizes contributions and accomplishments of Department of Defense civilians who directly support military forces engaged in military operations of a prolonged peacekeeping or humanitarian nature.
