    416th Theater Engineer Command

The 416th Theater Engineer Command (TEC) provided a resource fair for Soldiers on Saturday, June 5th.

“We are reintegrating that on-site hands on approach to have access to services. We may have lost that during the COVID 19 pandemic,” said Major Kathleen Bikus, Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, 416th TEC. “We are making it tangible for Soldiers and their Family members.”

Four different organizations sent representatives to the event.

“On the weekends, Soldiers have their battle assemblies. By coming here to battle assembly the Soldiers can see our literature. Some of the Soldiers do not know what’s out there in terms of Soldier and Family resources,” explained Ms. Rhonda Boggan, 88th Readiness Division Survivor Outreach Services-Support Coordinator/Family Readiness Support Assistant. “In boot camp, they don’t talk about Tri-care or Military One Source.”

Mr. Kevin Berce, Certified Financial planner, was on ground to provide financial guidance.

“The Soldiers can stop by and see what we have to offer. Anything from credit repair to how to invest in the Thrift Savings Program.”

In addition, Ms. Carrie Norwood, Senior Programs Manager, USO of Illinois and USO Volunteer Ruth Maple provided information about USO programs.

“It’s beneficial for the Soldiers. We have wonderful programs and we are always developing new programs for the Soldiers. I’m in awe of what they do,” said Maple, who volunteers at the USO at O’Hare Airport.

Mr. Michael Rogers represented the Veteran Center program which provides a variety of services including counseling, employment and applying for V.A. benefits.
“I enjoyed meeting the Soldiers and talking about the wonderful programs at Vet Center.”

Additional resource fairs are being planned for units within the 416th to ensure resource are made available to Soldiers and family members.
