Reserve Citizen Airmen with the 655th Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing found good reason to celebrate Wednesday as the Fort Worth Airpower Council announced the wing as the recipient of the 2020 Power and Vigilance Award.
The Power and Vigilance Award is presented to the Tenth Air Force unit which best exhibits the Numbered Air Force's vision as "The premier provider of affordable, integrated, flexible and mission-ready Reserve Citizen Airmen to execute power and vigilance in support of U.S. National Security."
This year’s award recipient was a tough choice for Tenth Air Force leadership.
“It was remarkable to read all of the incredible accomplishments that each of our wings achieved in a very challenging 2020,” said Maj. Gen. Brian Borgen, Tenth Air Force commander. “It was difficult to choose just one wing as the award recipient.”
The 655th ISRW commander was present to accept the award on behalf of the members of his unit, the only ISR wing in the Air Force Reserve Command.
“ISR is a very unique arena,” said Col. Joseph Marcinek, 655th ISRW commander. “We boast a very diverse mission that expands on Tenth Air Force's weapon systems portfolio.”
Marcinek also noted the significance of this award for the 655th ISRW.
“I am extremely proud to accept this award on behalf of the more than 1300 men and women of the 655th,” said Marcinek. “It is amazing to be recognized at the numbered Air Force level for the excellent work our team does.”
