Story by Master Sgt. Jeffrey Schultze

    195th Wing

On April 27th Arthur Littler the 195th Wing Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) was honored as the 2021 Liz Blanc Exceptional SARC of the Year for the National Guard.

Littler was selected for his exceptional efforts as the wing’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) program lead, along with his work with outside units and agencies.

“After being the SARC for the 9th Reconnaissance Wing at Beale Air Force Base I thought it would be great to serve those who really serve our communities directly in the Air National Guard. I have been working for this wing for just over two years,” said Littler.

Littler’s role as SARC encompasses being a key resource for members of the wing in need of assistance as well as Collaborating with off base agencies, covering as SARC for units outside of the 195th Wing, working as an inspector of other SARC programs and developing annual training.
“It’s been a great journey, I’ve learned a lot being in the program the last five years, I’m grateful for the chance to help out were ever I can,” said Littler.

Littler’s message about the SAPR program is one of open communication and respect.

“We talk about prevention with the SAPR program, that’s what the P in SAPR is. A lot of the things we can do to mitigate sexual assaults really are common things that we can do to build relationships,” said Littler. “Having good open communication, respecting one another, acknowledging how another person is doing, acknowledging how they are feeling about a situation. A lot of these things are the cornerstones of what makes great NCO’s (non-commissioned officers), SNCO’s (senior non-commissioned officers), officers and airmen.”

While traveling to units throughout California he sees a lot of these ideas in action and people looking out for one another.

“I know members of the 195th Wing have a great relationship, a great bond. Every time I am at a different site I see how they interact with one another. They treat each other truly like family,” said Littler. “I am grateful to be a part of the wing, folks are doing the right thing. I just want to say keep doing the right thing, and keep looking out for one another. Because what they are doing right now is working.”
