Whiteman Air Force Base will conduct an emergency response exercise May 19.
Security Forces, fire department, medical and local law enforcement personnel will be responding to the off-base exercise training site at Royal Oaks Golf Course, off Route 23.
Base personnel and surrounding community members should anticipate gate closures, traffic delays and may hear emergency-response vehicle sirens. The exercise’s response phase is scheduled to last from approximately 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., but remains subject to change.
During the exercise, the immediate area and main installation gate is expected to be locked-down briefly, to include areas of Route 23. However, the exercise lock down will not extend to the rest of the base.
The Installation Command Post will also issue notifications to the base through internal communication methods.
Potential temporary training exercise effects and impacts could include:
•Traffic and installation entry delays at Spirit Gate
•Emergency-response vehicles moving around the base and crossing Highway 23
•Increased security measures
•“Giant Voice” public address system activation
•Use of telephone and electronic-notification methods
•Alert sirens
