GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) Monterey Detachment Goodfellow recently kicked off its “Treat People With Kindness” campaign by supporting the Wesley Trinity United Methodist Church’s daily soup kitchen.

The “Treat People With Kindness” campaign is a community outreach effort by IWTC Monterey Detachment Goodfellow to provide community service and display of Navy Values to the citizens of San Angelo, Texas.

“The aim of the ‘Treat People With Kindness’ campaign is to fight against hate and discontent and set an example in our communities that our first reaction to others should always be kindness” said IWTC Monterey Detachment Goodfellow Officer in Charge Lt. Cmdr. Mark Wess, “San Angelo will be the epicenter of our kindness movement and we hope to conduct many more projects for the city of San Angelo.”

Staff and students of IWTC Monterey Detachment Goodfellow helped prepare and serve over 200 meals to the community of San Angelo for Easter weekend.

Navy Detachment Goodfellow has been a long supporter of Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen for over 20 years. Chief Cryptologic Technician (Collection) Anthony Edwards along with Cryptologic Technician (Collection) 1st Class Tyler Turner are responsible for organizing these events.

“One of the best memories I have from attending the Navy Analysis and Reporting Course in 2014 is having the opportunity to participate in soup kitchen,” shared Edwards. “I am happy that we as a command continue to provide this opportunity to all the Navy students. Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen volunteer event is always a favorite for the students, and they seem to really enjoy it.”

Turner guided the Navy team in preparing the delicious meal of honey smoked ham, yams, and green beans.

“It’s always nice getting the students out of a classroom environment and showing them that the Navy really is a team that benefits their local communities” added Turner. “I look forward to participating in every one of these events.”

Cryptologic Technician (Collection) Seaman Siri Forseth, a student going through the Navy Analysis and Reporting Course said, “The soup kitchen was really well organized, and I am very grateful I got the opportunity to serve my county as well as my country.”

IWTC Monterey Detachment Goodfellow is aligned under IWTC Monterey. As part of the CIWT domain, they provide a continuum of foreign language training to Navy personnel, which prepares them to conduct information warfare across the full spectrum of military operations.
