Keyon Austin, a Security Operations Resident Office quality assurance representative for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District, was recognized by Col. Christopher Crary, the FED commander, today, for earning the Modern Day Technology Leader Award, at the 2021 Black Engineer of the Year Award Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Conference.

“This is a big deal…any day we get to highlight our focused professionals speaks to the incredibly talented people we have in our organization. Any time we get to showcase that is very important. Keyon is now a part of that legacy,” said, Crary.

“I want to thank everyone that I work with. It was an honor to win this award,” said Austin.

BEYA awardees are selected, because they are considered the bright people who are shaping the future of engineering, science, and technology.

These nomination applications are reviewed and recommended for an award by a panel of leaders from industry, government, and academia. The purpose of these programs is to get minority-group families and communities focused on the urgent need for development in the field of technology.
