Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) hosted its Quarterly Awards Virtual Ceremony on April 6, 2021. Among the nearly 250 awards presented were length of service to colleagues in recognition of their years of service in the United States government, Science and Engineer Development Program (SEDP) Graduates, and Letters of Appreciation. Limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic prevented previous in-person ceremonies.

After an introduction by host Pam Megathlin, NSWCPD Labor and Employee Relations Lead, NSWCPD Commanding Officer Capt. Simon opened the ceremony with his remarks.

“I think it would be an understatement to say that this year has been somewhat different,” said Simon. “But we’ve still been able to accomplish the mission. In lieu of having a large gathering of people to celebrate these milestones, we decided to do it virtually.”

The Captain continued: “I want to congratulate all of the awardees that are here today. For those with length of service awards, thank you for all of your service. We have service awards ranging from 20 – 45 years. What a show of commitment and dedication to the government. Thank you for your service. For our science and engineering program development graduates, congratulations! For those individuals who have received letters of appreciation from the fleet, what a great way to show the dedication and commitment that you have, to be recognized by our customers.”

NSWCPD Technical Director Tom Perotti expressed his gratitude to the award winners saying, “Today we celebrate your accomplishments, your achievements and, most importantly, your service. We would like to thank each of you for your dedication and selflessness as civil servants in supporting our nation and supporting our navy as being the best in the world.”

Throughout the ceremony, department heads continued to honor their employees for their commitment. The entire list of awards are below.

    The awards presented included:

    • Length of service: 25 years (7 honorees), 30 years (22 honorees), 35 years (51 honorees), 40 years (26 honorees), and 45 years (1 honoree)

    • Science and Engineer Development Program (SEDP): 98 graduates from a variety of technical codes

    • Letters of Appreciation (49 honorees: 13 groups, 9 individuals)
