WIESBADEN, Germany – The Wiesbaden Veterinary Treatment Facility is expecting a large staff shortage come summer time. Starting June 1, the Wiesbaden VTF will only be scheduling Permanent Change of Station travel related appointments until approximately August 2.

Start the process early. Some countries/ U.S. states have very specific requirements and can take over 6 months to prepare.

The best resource for current international pet travel requirements is: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel . Your local veterinary treatment facility can also assist you with international pet travel requirements.

PCS travel related consist of Rabies only, FAVN Draws for Hawaii, Japan, etc. and a Health Certificate. Schedule a health certificate appointment with the clinic as soon as possible. The appointment should be within 10-days of travel and your pet will need to be present for this appointment.

Ensure your pet’s vaccines are up to date. Most countries require an up-to-date rabies vaccine and 15-digit ISO compliant microchip implanted prior to their rabies vaccine.

Your pet may need an EU passport for travel depending on the airline and country of travel. Rotator slots are limited and filled on a first come first served basis. Call immediate to reserve a space for your pet.

If you are flying on a commercial airline, check with the airline to see if there are crate or breed restrictions.

Throughout the duration of PCS season, clients will be allowed to schedule PCS travel related up to eight weeks in advance. The clinic is experiencing an increase in calls, and asks that if your call is missed, leave a voicemail for the staff and they will return your call promptly.

During this time, pet prescriptions will continue to be filled (pending veterinarian review/approval).

Please call the VTF to ask about filling your pet's medication. Throughout this time the Wiesbaden VTF will be closed Thursdays, until further notice.
