SAN DIEGO – Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) recognizes it's Cardiology Department staff during Cardiovascular Professionals Week Feb. 14-20.
NMCSD offers a full spectrum of cardiovascular services.
Each service requires the support of a wide range of cardiovascular professionals. Doctors, nurses, cardiovascular technicians, sonographers, electrocardiogram technicians, hospital corpsmen and other support staff carry out NMCSD's Cardiology Department's mission.
"We have a team of about 50 individuals in our department," said Capt. William Bennett, NMCSD's Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship director. "Each one of them allows us to provide high quality, reliable health care for our patients."
Cardiovascular professionals at NMCSD have a unique opportunity to provide the best possible care for their patients. Patients are either active duty service members or beneficiaries, both populations that have been afforded the best healthcare without worry of financial limitations.
"We have the ability to take care of our beneficiaries in a way that is evidence based," said Bennett. "We don't have to worry about the cost of care, we just worry about what the patient needs."
NMCSD's cardiovascular professionals are an essential part of the hospital, and provide their patients with the care and high-quality service they expect.
NMCSD’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high-quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMCSD employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
