The state capital Wiesbaden informs citizens as well as the test sites about the handling of positive Corona rapid test results. Additionally, it informs about the entry from risk areas.

Rapid testing for the coronavirus is becoming increasingly popular and common. If the results are positive, all test centers and private individuals are required to send their results to the health department by email to [e-mail] within 24 hours. The message must contain the complete address including the telephone number of the infected persons. Missing or incomplete information constitutes an administrative offence and can be punished accordingly. Furthermore, in accordance with the Federal Government's National Test Strategy, all citizens are obliged to carry out an antibody test (also PCR test) for confirmation in the event of a positive result from a rapid antigen test, as the PCR tests are generally more reliable.

Persons who tested positive must always go into home quarantine immediately after receiving the positive test result. Since rapid tests are not as reliable as the conventional PCR tests, the resulting quarantine can be ended prematurely with a negative result in the following PCR test. It can then be assumed that the rapid test gave a so-called false positive result. If, on the other hand, the positive test result that triggers the quarantine is based on a PCR test, the regular quarantine time must always be adhered to.

For travel plans, it is important to note that returning from a risk area still triggers mandatory quarantine as well as the need for a coronavirus test to be taken. In addition, you must register under www.einreiseanmeldung.de before entering the country and carry these confirmation documents with you upon arrival. The quarantine obligation also exists in the event of a negative test result. It can be shortened starting on the fifth day after entry by presenting an additional negative PCR test. The result must be submitted to the competent health authority upon request within ten days of entry. If entry is made from a risk area, the test may not have been taken more than 48 hours after entry. In the case of entry from a so-called "high-risk area" in which either particularly high incidence levels (so-called "high incidence area") or in which virus mutations are widespread (so-called "virus variant area"), the test must be carried out no more than 48 hours before entry. In all cases, there is an obligation to report to the local health authority. The health department will also contact returnees from the high-risk areas, among other things, with the aim of preventing the possible spread of the mutations in the Wiesbaden area.
