SAN DIEGO – Yeoman 3rd Class Lucas M. Bourgeois, left, a native of Slidell, Louisiana serving aboard Nimitz-class nuclear aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), was recognized as Vinson’s “Sailor of the Day” in a ceremony on the ship’s bridge, Dec. 5. Bourgeois was selected for this honor from among over 3,000 Sailors in the ship’s crew.
Bourgeois serves as an administration assistant in the safety department. He is responsible for the processing and tracking of all records, awards, evaluations, and correspondence for 11 personnel.
Bourgeois graduated from Northshore High School in 2011 and joined the Navy in April 2018. He’s been onboard Vinson since August 2018.
As Bourgeois continues to serve aboard Vinson, he values hard work overall.
“You should always work hard in whatever you do,” said Bourgeois. “At the end of the day, it will always pay off.”
Vinson is currently pierside in its homeport of San Diego.
